Mariam Parray is a student at Pulaski Academy and a leader in the school’s Model United Nations and Amnesty International clubs. She enjoys playing the flute, playing lacrosse, and reading. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Arkansas Coalition of Peace and Justice.
Here is what Mariam had to say about her mother’s influence on her interest in peacemaking: “My mother has always emphasized the values of love, empathy, and unity. Not only are these characteristics important to our daily lives, but they are also essential to peace. Thus, my mother has raised me to become not only a good citizen but also an ideal peacemaker. My mother has influenced me by highlighting the need for dialogue, mutual respect, and diversity in thought, helping shape my priorities as a peacemaker. Without her, I would not have the same understanding of peace or role in shaping our community.”
